From October 8th to 11th, Foligno welcomed six participants from Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria and Benin for a week-long job shadowing under the Seed4Africa project. This initiative aimed to enhance the professional profiles of African VET (Vocational Education and Training) teachers and trainers in agriculture and rural development through hands-on learning and international collaboration.
During their stay, participants explored innovative practices and sustainability-focused initiatives through visits to key organisations:
- EGInA Headquarters with an introduction to European projects on sustainability and nature preservation.
- Orto Sive Natura, Gualdo Cattaneo: An organic farm showcasing eco-friendly farming techniques and products.
- Agricola Mesina, Pianello: A farm producing organic olive oil, wine and sheep’s milk, highlighting market potential for high-quality organic products.
- 3A Park (Agricultural and Food Technology Park of Umbria): A hub for improving agricultural product quality, promoting sustainability and fostering innovation.
- Agricultural Technical Institute Ciuffelli – Einaudi, Todi: A historic secondary school training future agricultural professionals.
- CESAR (Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development): Experts in international cooperation, research and training in food processing and environmental fields.
The Seed4Africa project fosters international collaboration and knowledge sharing in agriculture, creating a global ecosystem to address food security, health and sustainability challenges. This week in Foligno equipped participants with tools and inspiration to drive change in their home countries.
